Depth psychological advisory for founders and CEOs facing decisions that matter. Exacting. Outside the organisation.
You’re accomplished and capable. Under pressure, old responses still return — even when you can name them.
You have the facts and the authority. The choice still carries weight the situation alone doesn’t explain.
You can name the pattern, describe both sides and anticipate the outcome. It still runs the room.
Others see certainty. Internally, responsibility amplifies doubt, isolation, or over-control.
Jungian depth psychology, social neuroscience and systems psychodynamics — applied to the realities of leading.
Shadow, projection, complexes and the recurring patterns that organise authority.
What changes for you: you see what’s yours before you act on the conflict.
How threat and safety shape perception when responsibility, scrutiny and consequence converge.
What changes for you: urgency separates from alarm. You keep your choice under pressure.
How individual defences are carried into executive teams, boards and organisational culture.
What changes for you: you see strategy apart from systemic anxiety, and act where the pattern starts.
A CEO enters describing a board relationship that “should” have resolved months earlier — the facts were settled, the disagreement small. Three sessions in, the pattern traces to an earlier dynamic: being overruled by a parent whose approval never fully arrived. The board conflict was real. It was also carrying weight that belonged elsewhere. Naming that difference — what belongs to the board, what belongs to you — is usually where the relief begins.

At this level, confidential has to mean something specific.
A mutual confidentiality agreement, signed before the first substantive session. It covers both directions.
Invoicing runs through Momentive LLC. No reference to Unitive Mind, coaching, or advisory services on the statement.
No recordings or transcripts. Notes are limited to what supports continuity, and aren’t shared without your request.
Sessions are arranged directly — not through a shared calendar or assistant, unless you prefer otherwise.
Three conditions make this work possible: privacy, rigour, and attention to consequence.
Outside the organisation, what can’t safely enter the system can be examined without exposure.
We work beneath behaviour and performance language — to the patterns, defences and projections shaping judgement.
What’s unresolved in the leader enters decisions, relationships, boards, culture. This work makes it conscious — and less reflexive.
We don’t begin with strategy. We begin with what’s shaping the leader beneath it. The Diagnostic is a four-week depth assessment for one defined leadership question — standalone, not a prerequisite for The Threshold or The Inner Authority.
Founder, Unitive Mind
Senior leaders rarely need another framework. The real work starts where strategy and competence stop being enough — recurring board conflict, the isolation of command, the gap between outer authority and inner experience.
My work is direct, private and depth-oriented. We identify the patterns shaping your authority, examine what’s sustaining the friction, and work toward more freedom of response where it counts.
Selected background
Recurring impasse with a co-founder that outside mediation and structured facilitation had not resolved.
Preparing for a board transition while managing a pattern of over-control under scrutiny.

“James Fox brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the work of improving our capacity to communicate, manage, and grow, whether at work or in person. Fox’s process helps clarify and develop the personal before we can bring it to the world.”
James Hollis, PhD
Jungian analyst and author
For leaders whose responsibilities require sustained depth. Continuity across decisions, relationships and pressure as they unfold — so patterns are examined as they emerge, not after.
A note on fit. The Diagnostic examines one defined leadership question directly with James, concluding in a written brief. The Threshold is self-directed foundational work across eight modules over 90 days, without a live consultation — suited to those ready to begin the interior work independently.
James reads and responds to every enquiry personally, and follows up only where there’s a real next step.
